Welcome to the FastMail Wiki.

What is this?

This Wiki is blossoming into a knowledge base created by and for users of the FastMail email provider. Almost all pages (except for this front page and some critical pages) can be edited by users to add content. Don't worry about adding content, you don't have to! The important thing is that you can if you wish. For more information for how this all works have a look at the bottom of this page. Alternatively, just look around at a few of the sections below to get a feel for what information is available.

Main Sections

Some of the sections that have been created so far:

Looking for something?

If you're like most, you'll want to look at the most popular pages. If you came here looking for information on a very specific topic, perhaps the Table of Contents might be of help. Or use the search text box under the navigation panel on the left hand side of every page.

At this time this wiki contains 335 articles.

Also keep an eye on recent changes (or see the navigation side panel) to view the latest updates and new additions. This front page may not always be perfectly up-to-date.

If you have a support issue with Fastmail (if you've tried to use the context sensitive tool-tips, the FAQ, and this Wiki to solve your problem) the next step is to search the FastMail Forum. Post to it if you can't find an answer there.

Want to help out?

If this Wiki thing has piqued your interest, you might want to consider helping out. We can always use additional editors! The only thing you need to be able to do in order to contribute is read and write. Almost any page can be edited, so you can contribute right away. To edit certain pages or certain content, you will need to register. See the Community Portal for more information.

It's important to remember that this Wiki is really only a place to store information. Because it's very difficult to keep track of who's saying what in an "everyone can edit everything" environment, the FastMail Forum is much better suited to engaged discussion. So, if you'd like to add something to the Wiki but aren't sure how to put it, or you want to get some more feedback and invite people to modify your initial Wiki page, head over to the FastMail Forum and create a thread to discuss. For more information, read why thread mode is considered harmful.

Recent news

  • We've introduced mandatory registration to edit pages with external links in them. See: Project:Community Portal
  • We've been categorizing most pages, following the conversion to Mediawiki. See: Special:Categories
  • We've changed from using phpwiki to using mediawiki (the wiki software created for the Wikipedia project). We've automatically converted all the pages across, though there may be a few errors here and there. As usual, since it is a wiki, feel free to help fix things up :)
  • By the way, media wiki includes the rel="nofollow" attribute on ALL external links, so comment spam is pretty useless.
  • The latest news on FastMail can always be found at the blog.
